While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart. Francis of Assisi

Meaning of the universe

If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning. C. S. Lewis

TODAY'S REFLECTION- FRIDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER
St. Zita, virgin
Acts 13:26-33 / Psalm 2:6-11 / John 14:1-6

TRUST IN GOD
Beloved, St. Paul, the former persecutor of the members of the Church, is continually exhorting the Jews on the salvation history of Israel. He touched on Jesus' trial, passion, death and resurrection. St. Paul said that all that Jesus' executioners did to him was in fulfilment of God's plan, which they did not realise. Am I aware that God has plan(s) for me and for other people? Am I prepared to cooperate with God's plan(s)? May God's plan(s) in our lives be fulfilled.

Friends, our today's Gospel reading (Jn 14:1ff), is often used during funerals as a consolation for us. It assures us that in God, our Father's house in heaven, there are many rooms/mansions. And that God/Jesus has finished preparing the room of the person we are mourning. So, if God/Jesus also finishes preparing the rooms for any of us, He will come and take us there. Who wants to die or go there now? Jesus said he is going to prepare our places and come and take us there.

Thomas wanted to know where Jesus was going and Jesus said he is the Way, the Truth and the Life. These days, we have made "the system " or things to look like, before we get things done for us easier and faster, we have to pass through some ways (people): before we get a job or some positions or win elections, etc. But here, Jesus is talking about going to heaven, not to get to any earthly place or position. We have to go, "the Jesus way". Many of us often opt for the wrong way, instead of the right way of doing things or getting things done. Jesus is not just the Way, he is also the Truth. Truth is what will set us free. But we seem to like lies, when we know what both lies and Truth can do in our lives. A candidate, that some of us will like to vote for or support, when we are asked will be: "Hon. Lies", as against "Hon. Truth", because we don't like the Truth. Jesus added that, he is the Life. Let me say that the life Jesus is talking about is Eternal, Meaningful, Well-respected and Fulfilled Life, NOT just any regrettable or wasted life. Jesus tells us to believe in him. He is not campaigning or making promises. We should believe that he is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Let us pray for the grace to know God's will/plan in our lives and that may God's will be done and may God's plans be fulfilled in our lives. May we also believe in Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life. We should not also forget that when God/Jesus finishes preparing our rooms in the next world, we have no option, but to go. BE BLESSED.

Lesson from the story of Joseph.

The brothers of joseph thought they were pushing him away from his dream of being who God said he would be. Little did they know that they were rather pushing him into it.   Read more>>>

Teacher: Felix Dordaa Mahama Text: {bib=Judith 5:17-21} What if I were God? Would I be able to forgive the many wrongs that people do, even after they confess? When I examine my own thoughts and emotions and when I listen to contributions to the Friday morning toaster programme, I wonder what would happen to us if God were a human; He is so full of mercy and compassion, sometimes I wonder if I were God I would be able to forgive some of... Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the grace and peace of God be in your heart. Friends, in {bib=Luke 22:39-46}, Jesus admonished us to keep watch and pray so as to avoid trial. Beloved, there will at some point in your life be a moment of trial, but at those times you need strength from above just as in the case of Jesus. Do miracles still happen in the Catholic…

The answer to the question of whether miracles still happen in the Catholic Church has always raised follow-up questions in my mind. Yes, I know that miracles still happen in the Catholic Church, but if so why are so many Catholics still into idolatry, consulting gods and mallams everywhere at the sight of any small problem? Why do many Catholics not hear about these miracles? How important are miracles in the Catholic Church and in our relationship with God? I believe that... Read more>>>

Guarding friendship

Teaching for Sunday 21st June, 2009Teacher: Felix Dordaa Mahama Text: {bib=Sirach 22:19-27} Friendship = companionship History of friendship Friendship has existed since the beginning of creation: When God created man, he saw that it was not good for man to be alone, so he created woman – {bib=Genesis 2:8-23}. God used to come down and interact with Adam and Eve in the Garden. Destruction of friendship But man broke this friendship through disobedience by eating the forbidden fruit. Living in a changed life

Three days fasting and prayers - Wednesday, 26th November, 2008 Teacher: Felix Dordaa Mahama Text: {bib=1 Peter 4:1-6} “When you go to Rome, do what the Romans do” Once we want something from a certain place, we have to identify ourselves with that place and live like the people there (“When you go to Rome, do what the Romans do”). There is hope

There is hope for a tree that has been cut down; it can come back to life and sprout. Even though its roots grow old, and its stump dies in the ground, with water it will sprout like a young plant. Pursue Your Strengths

God has equipped each one of us with specific gifts and talents. It’s up to each of us to identify those gifts and be disciplined enough to develop them. You have to learn to stay in your strength zone. What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take the time to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and as the Scripture says, give yourself to your gifts. In other words, don’t spend all your time trying to improve... Read more>>>

A brief history of the Holy Rosary and h…

What is the rosary? The angel Gabriel’s greeting to Mary, when he came to announce the conception of Jesus, is familiar to most Catholics. It is echoed in one of the most popular Catholic prayers, the Hail Mary (in Latin, Ave Maria): “Hail, [Mary,] favoured one [or ‘full of grace’]! The Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28). The words that follow in that prayer also come from Scripture, from Elizabeth’s greeting to our Lady soon afterward: “Blessed are you among women, and... Read more>>>

When God decides: authority of God

Exhortation during three days fasting and prayers: 28th–30th January, 2009Teacher: Felix Dordaa Mahama Text: {bib=Matthew 20:1-16} When God decides, no one can stand in His way. The message in the above title is what today’s text has presented to us. Jesus has likened the kingdom of heaven (i.e., the operation of God) to the farmer who has hired workers to work in his vineyard. The vineyard owner chose to pay the latecomers as much as he had paid the early comers, and this... Read more>>>

Short memory

One of the most painful things in this world is when people you helped in the past later decide to work against you. So many people have vowed never to do anything to help others again because of the ungratefulness of some people they once helped. Our world is really full of people with selective short memory. They only remember the bad you once did against them but quickly forget the good you did for them. Joseph was a man God... Read more>>>

Is the Bible the Final Authority?

This article has been inspired by the conflict that exists within Christianity mainly due to the interpretation of the bible (the genuine cases). This article seeks to use the dealings of God with his people Israel, the dealings of Jesus and the apostles with the early Christians, the bible itself and common sense to... Read more>>>

Social Deception very often is a process by which wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong. It’s a complete paradigm shift of opinions, standards and morals that is achieved softly, subtly and often takes a generation to entrench into society. Those who engineer it are very deliberate and structured in their approach.   If you want to know what I am talking about, find out your mother’s views on things like sexuality and marriage and compare them with yours.
