Saint of the Day

Raise funds of love

Let us more and more insist on raising funds of love, of kindness, of understanding, of peace. Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God - the rest will be given. Mother Teresa

Progress

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. C. S. Lewis

Man lives as to make happiness impossibl…

Indeed, man wishes to be happy even when he so lives as to make happiness impossible. Saint Augustine

Touch the dying

Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work. Mother Teresa

Take only what you need

Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others. Saint Augustine

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the remission of sins. For it is by this that what has been lost, and was found, is saved from being lost again. Saint Augustine

All things unholy

I have been all things unholy. If God can work through me, he can work through anyone. Francis of Assisi

Importance of Christianity

Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important. C. S. Lewis

Hear the other side

Hear the other side. Saint Augustine

We must be hatched

It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad. C. S. Lewis

Do not serve with a gloomy face

It is not fitting, when one is in God's service, to have a gloomy face or a chilling look. Francis of Assisi

In season at all times

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand. Mother Teresa

Death, a blessings

Death may be the greatest of all human blessings. Socrates

if you love until it hurts

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love. Mother Teresa

True wisdom

True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us. Socrates

The unexamined life

The unexamined life is not worth living. Socrates

Intense love does not measure

Intense love does not measure, it just gives. Mother Teresa

The richest

He is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature. Socrates

I gave in

I gave in, and admitted that God was God. C. S. Lewis

Feed the poor

If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one. Mother Teresa

This message has been circulating on the internet and elsewhere about the discovery of a message from God by NASA. This is part of the story:

curiosity roverThe original message

"NASA announced today that its Curiosity Rover has found an unambiguous message from God written on tablets in a Martian cave.

According to an official press release two giant stone slabs the size of small elephants were located deep inside a cavern abutting Aeolis Mons, a large mountain.

Upon one tablet is a copy of the Ten Commandments and the text of John 3:16 written in 12 languages - including English, Spanish, Chinese, Basque and Hebrew. On the other tablet is a simple message in English reading "I am real."" You can read the full message here.

Outcome of my research

I have done a lot of research on this story that NASA has found a message from God on mars but has yet to come across any website that has posted this story without reference to the Daily Currant. All the other websites I have seen this story on have copied it from the Daily Currant, the origin of the story. I have also searched the NASA website but found nothing concerning this story.

My impression

I wish to state emphatically that this story is false. The website where this story that NASA found a message from God on Mars originated from is a satirical website that uses fictional (not real) stories to, as they stated on their website, "ridicule the timid ignorance which obstructs our progress, and promote intelligence - which presses forward." Let me repeat this: their stories are NOT real; they are ALL fictional. So do not believe anything you read from that website. Read their About page to find out what they have said about their stories and the website. You can read more about satire. If you are still not convinced, just ask yourself, "Why didn't the author of the story provide a link to the original NASA story?" Well, ask them if they do have such a link!

Does God exist?

However, don't get me wrong. I wish to state categorically to everyone that God truly exists , whether you choose to believe it or not? You may have a lot of questions you cannot find answers to that make you believe that there is no God, but I bet you, you can also get a lot of questions you cannot find answers to that should convince you that God does exist.

For example

  1. Scientists make discoveries. Who created these things that the scientists discover?
  2. Why haven't Scientists, for so many thousands of years, been able to prevent disasters, like storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc, even in the US?
  3. Why haven't Scientists been able to prevent people from dying?
  4. Why haven't Scientists been able to produce human beings from nothing?

I believe if you are not able to answer the above questions and many others, it should convince you that there is a superior being, God, somewhere.

Wise sayings

Let me quote Albert Camus, "I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is."

Don't be proud of a false knowledge that there is no God when you are not God. Humble yourself. As Socrates puts it, "True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us."

There is hope

There is hope for a tree that has been cut down; it can come back to life and sprout. Even though its roots grow old, and its stump dies in the ground, with water it will sprout like a young plant. ({bib=Job14:7-9}). Take heart, the Lord of Hosts is still able, the mighty God of wonders is still at work, the rock of ages is gracious and Jehovah Jire is still providing our needs according to his riches in glory in... Short memory

One of the most painful things in this world is when people you helped in the past later decide to work against you. So many people have vowed never to do anything to help others again because of the ungratefulness of some people they once helped. Our world is really full of people with selective short memory. They only remember the bad you once did against them but quickly forget the good you did for them. Joseph was a man God... Read more>>>

Do miracles still happen in the Catholic…

The answer to the question of whether miracles still happen in the Catholic Church has always raised follow-up questions in my mind. Yes, I know that miracles still happen in the Catholic Church, but if so why are so many Catholics still into idolatry, consulting gods and mallams everywhere at the sight of any small problem? Why do many Catholics not hear about these miracles? How important are miracles in the Catholic Church and in our relationship with God? I believe that... Read more>>>

Pursue Your Strengths

God has equipped each one of us with specific gifts and talents. It’s up to each of us to identify those gifts and be disciplined enough to develop them. You have to learn to stay in your strength zone. What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take the time to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and as the Scripture says, give yourself to your gifts. In other words, don’t spend all your time trying to improve... Read more>>>

Wrong moral living or wrong moral teachi…

Difference between wrong moral living and wrong moral teachings Some people confuse the two concepts of wrong moral living and wrong moral teaching. If we study scripture carefully, we will realize that right from the beginning God has condemned both wrong moral living and wrong moral teaching. However, we also realized that even so, there has been no period in history when the world has been completely rid of evil or wrong moral living. Abraham, for instance, could not wait patiently for... Read more>>>

A brief history of the Holy Rosary and h…

What is the rosary? The angel Gabriel’s greeting to Mary, when he came to announce the conception of Jesus, is familiar to most Catholics. It is echoed in one of the most popular Catholic prayers, the Hail Mary (in Latin, Ave Maria): “Hail, [Mary,] favoured one [or ‘full of grace’]! The Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28). The words that follow in that prayer also come from Scripture, from Elizabeth’s greeting to our Lady soon afterward: “Blessed are you among women, and... Read more>>>

Do I Need to Forgive Others to be Forgiv…

Dear ..., I hope this writeup meets you in good spirits. Unfortunately, we couldn’t complete the discussion we started, so I decided to put my thoughts together in this writeup for you to study. I hope you read this writeup with an open mind. I referred to Matthew 5:21-24, 38-48, Matthew 6:14,15 and Matthew 18:21ff to make the point that unforgiveness is one of the gravest sins, because it actually prevents your other sins from being forgiven. You challenged that a Christian can’t... Read more>>>
