Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the remission of sins. For it is by this that what has been lost, and was found, is saved from being lost again. Saint Augustine

In season at all times

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand. Mother Teresa

In the absence of justice

In the absence of justice, what is sovereignty but organized robbery? Saint Augustine

Perfection of a man

This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections. Saint Augustine

The future

The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of 60 minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is. C. S. Lewis

Meaning of the universe

If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning. C. S. Lewis

Scatter there Thy cheerful beams

O Holy Spirit, descend plentifully into my heart. Enlighten the dark corners of this neglected dwelling and scatter there Thy cheerful beams. Saint Augustine

The cause makes the martyr

It is not the punishment but the cause that makes the martyr. Saint Augustine

Courage

Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point. C. S. Lewis

Judging disputes

If two friends ask you to judge a dispute, don't accept, because you will lose one friend; on the other hand, if two strangers come with the same request, accept because you will gain one friend. Saint Augustine

Too honest to be a politician

I was really too honest a man to be a politician and live. Socrates

There is God

I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is. Albert Camus

Aim at heaven

Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither. C. S. Lewis

Our heart is not quiet until it rests in…

Thou hast created us for Thyself, and our heart is not quiet until it rests in Thee. Saint Augustine

Fear vs reverence

Where there is reverence there is fear, but there is not reverence everywhere that there is fear, because fear presumably has a wider extension than reverence. Socrates

Passion

Passion is the evil in adultery. If a man has no opportunity of living with another man's wife, but if it is obvious for some reason that he would like to do so, and would do so if he could, he is no less guilty than if he was caught in the act. Saint Augustine

It is in giving that we receive

For it is in giving that we receive. Francis of Assisi

Seeking without that wert within

I found thee not, O Lord, without, because I erred in seeking thee without that wert within. Saint Augustine

Selective faith

If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself. Saint Augustine

Seek to love, not to be loved

Lord, grant that I might not so much seek to be loved as to love. Francis of Assisi

A personal reflection on 23rd July 2011
2 Kings 19:1-37 (start at 2 Kings 18:13) OR Isaiah 36, 37

2 Kings 19:3 – When you are in grief, do you pick a boyfriend/girlfriend for help; do you consult another god, do you start looking for a way to extort other people, do you throw your hands up in despair?
               – When you are in shame do you show your enemies?

2 Kings 19:6 – What are you going through now? Sickness, joblessness, underpayment, frustration, anger, pride, problem with husband, wife or children, problem with boss, sexual harassment from boss or colleagues, school fees, admission, etc?

The Lord says these are but threats; they will never overwhelm you.

2 Kings 19:10-13 – The devil will never relent in his threats to make you frightened and give up. He will tell you,

“But your father died in that sickness, so did his father and so did his father’s father, so who are you to think that you can get out of it, ahh?!”

“Have you forgotten your father died in poverty? So did his father and so did his father’s father before him. You want to prosper? Impossible!”

“Don't you remember that none of your brothers has gone beyond JHS? You want to go to university? Ha ha, ha ha, what are you thinking? You must be a joker!”

“But don’t you remember that in your family no one has ever had a happy marriage? Can’t you see that all the children are stubborn? Are you different?” Oh, yes, you are different!

“Hey, my friend, everybody is doing it, just relax and join in. After all God can’t send all these people to hell.” Oh, yes, God can!

“In any case if you don’t do it you will lose your job and how will you survive?” Yes, you will survive!

“Just look around, where are you going to get that amount of money to pay your fees? Why don’t you “sell your body” like others are doing? That’s a chance there, take it! Prostitute, do drugs, cheat, steal, embezzle, rob, or better still just abandon it, or best still why don’t you just end your life?”

2 Kings 19:14-19 – This is the prayer you should make.
2 Kings 19:21 – You are Jerusalem; the devil is Sennacherib.
2 Kings 19:28 – “I will put a hook in your nose.” – God will put a hook in the nose of your problems.
2 Kings 19:32 – Your problem "will not enter your city or shoot a single arrow" at you.
2 Kings 19:34 – God always keeps his promises.

2 Kings 19:35 – Do you know how many of your problems the angel of the Lord is going to kill tonight?

You love the promises above and will love to claim them. Are you dressed to claim them? (Read Matthew 22:1-14).

In Galatians 4:30, St. Paul quotes Genesis 21:10 as follows, “Send the slave woman and her son away; for the son of the slave woman will not have a part of the father’s property along with the son of the free woman.” He went on to say in Galatians 5:1, “Freedom is what we have – Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.” He went on to list some things that make us slave to sin and therefore slaves to the devil, so that we cannot take part in the inheritance of the father. Galatians 5:19-21 – “What human nature does is quite plain. It shows itself in immoral, filthy, and indecent actions; in worship of idols and witchcraft. People become enemies and they fight; they become jealous, angry and ambitious. They separate into parties and groups; they are envious, get drunk, have orgies, and do other things like these. I warn you now as I have before: those who do these things will not possess the Kingdom of God.”

The only way you can claim the promises of God is to surrender your life to Him, otherwise you will be doing everything in your life by mere human power which cannot save you, physically or spiritually. You will therefore believe and live by all the things stated above which the devil suggests to you.

Let Jesus set you free; live for Him and you can claim all the promises in this passage.

Should transgender people be baptized or…

Report of the Catholic Church's position on baptism of transgender people Recently, there has been a report claiming that the Catholic Church has decided to permit transgender people to be baptized and become godparents. I first read the report on graphic online website, titled "Trans people can be baptised in Catholic church and be godparents, says Vatican," through a link posted on WhatsApp. Though I have not read the original document supposedly released by the Vatican, an online search at the time... Understanding the book of Acts

Analysis of video condemning water baptism for gentiles(Understanding Acts)   It is very helpful to watch the complete video before reading my comments, so that you can have the full picture. Someone referred me to this video when we were discussing about baptism. The video claims that water baptism is not required by gentiles for salvation. I have analyzed the video and given my thoughts on it. I would have loved to post my comments directly on youtube, but comments have been disabled... Read more>>>

When God decides: authority of God

Exhortation during three days fasting and prayers: 28th–30th January, 2009Teacher: Felix Dordaa Mahama Text: {bib=Matthew 20:1-16} When God decides, no one can stand in His way. The message in the above title is what today’s text has presented to us. Jesus has likened the kingdom of heaven (i.e., the operation of God) to the farmer who has hired workers to work in his vineyard. The vineyard owner chose to pay the latecomers as much as he had paid the early comers, and this... Read more>>>

Pursue Your Strengths

God has equipped each one of us with specific gifts and talents. It’s up to each of us to identify those gifts and be disciplined enough to develop them. You have to learn to stay in your strength zone. What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take the time to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and as the Scripture says, give yourself to your gifts. In other words, don’t spend all your time trying to improve... Read more>>>

The Apostles' creed

I believe in God, The Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the... Prevailing prayers

Greetings My dear brothers and sisters, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith and the sustainer of all living beings. In fact prayer is the meeting point between divinity and... Read more>>>

The 7 UPs

1 . Wake Up !!!Decide to have a good day. "Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." {bib=Psalms 118:24} 2. Dress Up !!!The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart." {bib=1 Samuel 16:7} 3. Auto-panic

It is as if most human beings are configured to be automatically  afraid whenever there are challenges. This auto-panic device makes even some Holy Spirit filled Christians to cry out, complain and wish for a return to their former ways of life when they go through a test.  In fact, when this auto-panic device is activated, it automatically uninstalls any faith application. Therefore, at this stage, anxiety, fear, worry, hopelessness, dejection etc. begin to control such a person. The people of... Read more>>>

Living in a changed life

Three days fasting and prayers - Wednesday, 26th November, 2008 Teacher: Felix Dordaa Mahama Text: {bib=1 Peter 4:1-6} “When you go to Rome, do what the Romans do” Once we want something from a certain place, we have to identify ourselves with that place and live like the people there (“When you go to Rome, do what the Romans do”). Social Deception very often is a process by which wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong. It’s a complete paradigm shift of opinions, standards and morals that is achieved softly, subtly and often takes a generation to entrench into society. Those who engineer it are very deliberate and structured in their approach.   If you want to know what I am talking about, find out your mother’s views on things like sexuality and marriage and compare them with yours. The contrast in... Read more>>>

Do miracles still happen in the Catholic…

The answer to the question of whether miracles still happen in the Catholic Church has always raised follow-up questions in my mind. Yes, I know that miracles still happen in the Catholic Church, but if so why are so many Catholics still into idolatry, consulting gods and mallams everywhere at the sight of any small problem? Why do many Catholics not hear about these miracles? How important are miracles in the Catholic Church and in our relationship with God? I believe that... Read more>>>
