WAIT AND RECEIVE POWER FROM ON HIGH
Beloved, all the proposed readings have many things to teach us about the Holy Spirit. The ambitious nature of the people who attempted to build the tower of Babel made the Lord to scatter them over the whole face of the earth (Genesis 11:1ff). We should not try to think for God or want to know more than God. God is capable of saving us from any life-threatening situation (Exodus 19:3ff). The Spirit of God is able to make dry bones come together and become a great and mighty army (Ezekiel 37:1ff). The Spirit of the Lord is capable of making people to prophesy, dream dreams and see visions (Joel: 1ff). The Holy Spirit teaches us how to pray when we cannot choose words. He comes to help us in our weaknesses (Romans 8: 22ff).
Friends, Jesus invites those of us who believe in him and are thirsty to come to him and we shall have fountains of living water. We are assured of the abundant outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which will quench our thirst and give us more power. The woman at the well was thirsting for things that could not satisfy her (John 4:1ff). What am I yearning/thirsting/desiring for seriously?
As we conclude our Pentecost novena today and joyfully and gratuitously receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit, may all scattered ideas, minds, families, workers be reunited. May the Holy Spirit help us to be freed from any form of slavery. May our hearts' desires be met and fulfilled. BE BLESSED.
