TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Genesis 3:9-15/Psalm 129:1-8/2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1/Mark 3:20-35
THIS IS MADNESS
Beloved, God has a purpose for creating us. He has His reasons why He wants us to do or not to do one thing or the other. Our parents and leaders have their reasons why they want us to do or not to do certain things. Sometimes, we want to be quicker or wiser than them. After we have disobeyed God or our parents or our leaders, then; we begin to hide from them or try to avoid them. God told our first parents to eat of the fruits of the trees in the garden except the tree in the middle of the garden. A snake was able to convince the woman to eat, who also gave some to the man to eat. Each of them had to suffer for it. Sin separates us from God. Sin makes us try to hide from God. Sin makes us accuse one another and shift/apportion blames. Sin makes us lose our rightful position/dignity. We should be conscious of these and learn to obey simple instructions.
St. Paul is aware of the suffering that his physical body has gone through and is still going through or yet to go through. He, however hopes to enjoy a better life. His physical pain will lead to eternal joy. Bodily pleasure will lead to doom and suffering. We should be careful the way we use our bodies and what we shall gain or lose later.
Friends, Jesus' ministry on earth touched the lives of many people in diverse ways. Different people interpreted Jesus' life differently. His family were convinced that he was out of his mind. The Scribes said "Beelzebul is in him". Jesus used the opportunity to teach his listeners on the need to serve/attend to/minister to everyone without discrimination. In the name of Jesus, we are all bothers and sisters. We are all sons and daughters of God. Jesus encourages us to be united lest we fall. We should not fight one another. Unhealthy fighting, opposition, accusations and negative thoughts about one another will lead to destruction. Jesus has every divine power to exorcise every demon or evil force. He doesn't need any " black magic ". If we obey, trust and rely on God, He will give us our hearts' desires at his own time. Others may try to entice, deceive, convince, beg or force us to do certain things in order to be wiser, richer, more powerful/famous. Do I want to obey God and be considered mad or obey Satan and still be considered mad? Be careful. Let us pray for the grace to be obedient to God and other lawful authorities. We also pray to learn to rely on God's power, not to rely on any power anywhere and regret later. We should learn to do God's will as His sons and daughters. BE BLESSED.
