PRAY WITH MORE FAITH
Beloved, after the Solemnity of Pentecost, we go back to the season of ordinary time in the Catholic calendar.
St. James in our today's first reading encourages us that, if we are wise or gifted in any way, we should show it by good lives. He says we should be mindful of lies, jealousy, selfish ambition, disharmony, hypocrisy, partiality, etc. That, we should look at what will bring peace and help us to bear good fruits in holiness.
Friends, while Jesus was on the mountain with three of his disciples during the episode of the transfiguration, a man brought his sick child to the rest of the ten disciples to heal the child, which they could not [do]. If my master is not there, what and what can I do? Jesus was surprised that in his absence, his disciples could not heal the child. He took his time and asked the sick child's father, "How long has this been happening to him?" (consultation to get first hand information). As parents and leaders, do we know the health situation of our children or co-workers? Will we be able to tell when a particular behavioural pattern started?
Jesus goes on to say, everything is possible for everyone who has faith. The father of the sick child said, "Lord, help the little faith I have". This is a sincere and honest man. With this submission, Jesus cured the child. When he was with his disciples alone, they asked him privately, why they were not able to do it? Jesus said, this is the kind, that can only be driven out by prayer. If I am not able to do something and someone else does it, will I humbly accept the fact that though I am gifted in one way or the other, I am also limited in other ways? Are we humble enough to learn from one another ? How do we prepare ourselves before work? Healing and deliverance members, how do we go about our healing and deliverance sessions? We need faith and prayer.
This healing case reminds us that we are being plagued by sin, demons and other evil forces. We need Jesus, our divine physician, to help us. No disciple/doctor has any power or knowledge of your own to heal. We need divine intervention.
Let us pray for the grace to live lives which will glorify God and sanctify humanity. Let us pray for faith in every aspect of our lives. BE BLESSED.
