TODAY'S REFLECTION - FRIDAY-THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS
Hosea 11:1,3-4,8c-9/ Psalm Is 12:2-6/ Ephesians 3:8-12,14-19/ John 19:31-37
LOOK AT JESUS ON THE CROSS
Beloved, the Prophet Hosea was made to marry Gomer, a prostitute, to portray the infidelity of the people of Israel. God our Father loved Israel despite her unfaithfulness. God loves us despite our shortcomings (disobedience, disappointment, disloyalty, etc). He expects parents to also have paternal/maternal love for their children. Do I love all my children?
St. Paul said it was out of God's love and a privilege that he was numbered among the chosen ones of God. Being conscious of this fact, he made efforts to preach the Good News of love to many others. Our duty is to to preach, share, spread and live the love of God wherever we are.
Friends, crucifixion was the punishment meted out to notorious criminals. Jesus was not a criminal, yet he was crucified. On the Cross, his legs were not broken, rather, his Sacred side was pierced with a lance. Water and blood flowed out of Jesus' pierced side, symbolising the Sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist for our salvation. John, the beloved disciple of Jesus, was at the foot of the Cross and saw what happened to Jesus. Jesus poured out his whole life, shed his blood, all for our sake. When Jesus was hanging on the Cross, some of those who passed by made fun of him. Some of us these days also make fun of the crucified Jesus. Jesus demonstrated his total love for us. The highest degree of love, to the point of laying down his life for our sake. Let us pray for good relationship between parents and their children. We also pray for those who sacrifice their lives for the common good, that we may also imitate their good example. BE BLESSED.
