Saint of the Day

You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.   C. S. Lewis

The wisest man alive

I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing. Socrates

unwanted, unloved

Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat. Mother Teresa

Pride of a false knowledge

Don't be proud of a false knowledge that there is no God when you are not God.   Felix Dordaa Mahama

Believe that you may understand

Seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand. Saint Augustine

Prayer does not change God

Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays. Soren Kierkegaard

Perfection of a man

This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections. Saint Augustine

The future

The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of 60 minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is. C. S. Lewis

A simple smile

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do. Mother Teresa

We must be hatched

It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad. C. S. Lewis

In season at all times

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand. Mother Teresa

Hear the other side

Hear the other side. Saint Augustine

Progress

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. C. S. Lewis

God judged it better

God judged it better to bring good out of evil than to suffer no evil to exist. Saint Augustine

Do not serve with a gloomy face

It is not fitting, when one is in God's service, to have a gloomy face or a chilling look. Francis of Assisi

Perfect moderation

To many, total abstinence is easier than perfect moderation. Saint Augustine

Forsaken by sin

To abstain from sin when one can no longer sin is to be forsaken by sin, not to forsake it. Saint Augustine

Lay first the foundation of humility

Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility. Saint Augustine

Money is not enough

Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go. Mother Teresa

Our walking is our preaching

It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching. Francis of Assisi

TODAY'S REFLECTION- MONDAY- 9TH WEEK- ORDINARY TIME
St. Francis Caracciolo, Confessor- ( 4-10= Arbour Week: Sanitation and Environmental Week; Rotation Week)
2 Peter 1:2-7/Psalm 90:1-2,14-16/Mark 12:1-12

BE A RESPONSIBLE STEWARD
Beloved, St. Peter in our today's first reading, urges us to equip our lives with virtues, not vices. He prays that we may have more grace and peace and that by divine power, we may attain goodness, faith, understanding, self- control, devotion, patience, kindness, love, etc. How many of these virtues do I already have?

Friends, Jesus tells us the parable of the Wicked Tenants, in our today's Gospel reading. The Owner of the vineyard stands for God. The Vineyard is Israel, the people of God. The Vinedresser/Tenants represent the leaders of the people of Israel.
The owner of the vineyard (God), sends servants (prophets) upon servants, time and again to collect proceeds from his vineyard, but they maltreated them. He finally sent his own Son (Jesus Christ, the heir, the cornerstone/keystone), thinking they would respect him, but he was taken outside and shamefully maltreated and killed.

God trustfully, generously and patiently gave us all that we are using now (as caretakers/stewards, not owners), yet we don't want God to get his due. The Tenants thought they would kill the owner's son and then own everything. How can we kill Jesus in our lives, community, offices, workplaces, churches, and own anything? Jesus is the centre of our lives and our whole being. We are to build our lives on Jesus, the cornestoner/unavoidable/keystone. To try to kill or ignore Jesus means we are calling for the wrath of God. We are heading towards total disaster, failure and misery. Why do we not want to give people what is their due? Why do we want to kill others and take their property? Let us pray for the grace to strive to live good lives. We also pray for the love and fear of God in our lives, so that we can properly take care of what God has given us, e.g. the environment. We pray for those of us who want to kill in order to get what we want. BE BLESSED.

Pack your things and give them to me to …

Drama this Morning:  My wife and I were having a serious quarrel when I said to her, "Pack your things and ...." At that moment her phone rang, so I had to stop for her to receive the call. It was her dad. The phone was on speaker so I could hear what he was saying. After the usual pleasantries between father and daughter, he said: "my daughter, I have transferred $1,000,000 into your account, give your husband $500,000 out... Read more>>>

Short memory

One of the most painful things in this world is when people you helped in the past later decide to work against you. So many people have vowed never to do anything to help others again because of the ungratefulness of some people they once helped. Our world is really full of people with selective short memory. They only remember the bad you once did against them but quickly forget the good you did for them. Joseph was a man God... Read more>>>

Pursue Your Strengths

God has equipped each one of us with specific gifts and talents. It’s up to each of us to identify those gifts and be disciplined enough to develop them. You have to learn to stay in your strength zone. What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take the time to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and as the Scripture says, give yourself to your gifts. In other words, don’t spend all your time trying to improve... Read more>>>

I have decided

There is nothing we go through that God does not know. He sees, He feels, He hears and He knows. God knows all the challenges, difficulties and problems His children go through. He is not unconcerned. He is not indecisive about your situation. In fact, God has made a decision to deliver you and He will do it! When the people of Israel were in captivity, it looked as if the Lord had abandoned them. They were in need of deliverance... Read more>>>

Who pushed me?

A wealthy man had only one daughter. When the daughter was of marriage age, the father sent news around town that all the eligible young men should come to compete in a test which would determine who was fit to marry his daughter. On the set day, all able-bodied young men came out. Some came with paper and pen and others with cutlasses and swords. The rich man took them to his swimming pool and addressed them:“Any of you who can swim from... Read more>>>

The agenda is on - The six stages of soc…

Social Deception very often is a process by which wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong. It’s a complete paradigm shift of opinions, standards and morals that is achieved softly, subtly and often takes a generation to entrench into society. Those who engineer it are very deliberate and structured in their approach.   If you want to know what I am talking about, find out your mother’s views on things like sexuality and marriage and compare them with yours. The contrast in... Read more>>>

The different world of blurred future of…

The world is more than rotten The world has changed completely into what I can’t describe. Will I say rotten? Oh no, it will be an understatement. Some youth say, “We are in the 21st century.” Some also say, “We are the future leaders.” Other youth say, “We are civilised.” Still, others say, “Computer children.” Indeed this twenty-first century has changed. Things are now upside down, which has made the road to righteousness very rough for the youth and difficult to... Read more>>>
