TURN TO GOD IN PRAYER
Beloved, our today's first reading is one of the biblical passages in which we are reminded of the power of prayer as experienced by some people. Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, conquered and destroyed a number of nations and was ready to attack Hezekiah, the king of Judah. Physically and militarily, Hezekiah was much weaker than Sennacherib. Knowing his weakness and where he could get super power, Hezekiah turned to God in earnest prayer. The step he took made God to intervene and to defend him. The Assyrian army was mysteriously destroyed and Judah was saved. Do I rely on my on strength and capabilities? Do I turn to God in times of need? Do I believe in the power of prayer?
Friends, Jesus tells us not to give dogs what is holy and not throw our pearls in front of pigs, that we should always treat others as we would like them to treat us. Also, that we should try our possible best to enter by the narrow gate. All these sayings carry a lot of weight and meaning. Let me only say, life is a road or journey which has its beginning or origin from God and goes back to God. But mostly in life, we come to cross roads. We may not know what to give to who, how to treat others or which way to go.
May we learn to always turn to God, because He is ever there to protect, direct, intervene, inspire and help us in any way possible. What a friend we have in Jesus! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! BE BLESSED.
