2 Chronicles 24:17-25/ Psalm 88:4-5,19-31/ Matthew 6:24:34
TRUST IN GOD
Beloved, in our today's first reading, King Joash, who was the legitimate heir to the throne of his Fathers, allowed evil princes to advise/persuade him to turn to pagan practices and despised God (2 Chronicles 24:20). As a result of his infidelity to God, God allowed the Aramaeans to invade Judah and that brought disaster upon the land. All leaders are expected to be dedicated to God. Yet some leaders, due to some negative influences or because of fear of the people or pride or ignorance, etc, often despise God. We often forget that without God, we are nothing.
Friends, in our today's Gospel reading, Jesus teaches us about God and money, care and anxiety and divine Providence. Jesus teaches us to leave worries aside and trust in God. That, God will take care of His people. We have heard from numerous people: "Don't worry". Some of us are too worried/anxious in such a way that, we forget about God's providential care or power or presence. Jesus assures us that once God is able to take care of birds and the flowers, He shall surely take better care of us. This is our hope. For some of us, we make strenuous efforts to earn wealth, fame, power etc, to the expense of good name, honour, human dignity or respect.
Let us pray for the grace not to be negatively influenced by others to an extent that we forget about God. May we also learn to hope in, trust in, depend on and rely on God, in our various life situations. BE BLESSED.
