TODAY'S REFLECTION- MONDAY-7TH WEEK OF EASTER
St. Matthias, Apostle and martyr
Acts 1:15-17,20-26/ Psalm 112:1-8/John 15:9-17
CALLED AND CHOSEN TO REMAIN IN LOVE
Beloved, today, Holy Mother Church celebrates the feast of St. Matthias. Not much is known concerning Matthias' ministry in the Holy Bible, before he was chosen to be part of the twelve apostles and after his election. From tradition, we got to know that, he preached in Judaea (modern Israel) and Ethiopia where he was crucified, but others hold that he was beheaded at Jerusalem. Whatever it is, we can say that St. Matthias was the quiet type. He did his part, to justify his inclusion. No matter the reason(s) Judas had for betraying Jesus leading to his subsequent death, God still found a way of choosing people to spread his word. Matthias waited for his time, to be called and chosen to be part of the number, twelve. God has his own time and ways of intervening in our various life situations.
Friends, as chosen Christians/disciples/apostles, our duty is to remain in God's love, keep his commandments, lay down our lives for others, go out and to bear good fruits and know that, whatever we ask from the Father, in Jesus name, we shall get. By virtue of our call and choice therefore, we are not to be nominal Christians (Christians by name) or spectators on the bench or fence. The Christian life/discipleship/apostleship is a shared/joint/collaborative ministry/responsibility.
Let us pray for the grace to allow the Holy Spirit to intervene in whatever God has planned for us. We also pray for the grace to obey God's commandments and remain in God's love.
BE BLESSED.
